Sleep Tight

Sleep has been sparse lately and purely to get enough energy to make it through the next long day of work and school. Gone are the afternoon naps and late night movies. These heavenly bedrooms would make even the smallest amount of sleep more rejuvinating. A bright blanket in a white room, like the image above, scream of sunlight and summer. Fleeting but still in my memory, I’m going to hang on to that feeling for as long as I can.

Mark Your Territory

Little boys room pillow

J & M pillows

I’ve always been a fan of monogramming but to some it can seem a bit stuffy and over the top. When done in such an adorable way as seen below, how are you not tempted to add it to your collection of pillows?

Who else but Serena & Lily?

Furniture Cravings

I’m only a month into the school semester and it’s already overwhelming and extremely time consuming but there’s always time to share some of my current favorite pieces!

Pebble Dinnerware… i’m not even sure what’s going on here but it’s beautiful

Scallops for Everyone

I am dying over not only this bedding set but the styling on Horchow’s website as well… Bedding is like my crack (along with bath towels, frames, and sneakers). This bedding is not cheap so it’s time to start saving up…

I could move right into this bedroom. I’ve been dreaming about deep blue walls.

In a neutral room, this bedding takes center stage.

NEED!

Into the Mind of Darryl Carter

Love this rom by Darryl Carter. He can create an amazing thing with just white walls, bare floors and truly beautiful antiques. Sometimes the staging for photography can seem a bit impractical, such as this chair that faces the bed, but when you imagine bedtime stories being read late into the hours of the night, it all seems to make sense.

See more of Darryl’s work here.

Midsummer Nights Chatham

Decorating a summer cottage can be challenging. Furniture needs to be washable, feet need to be able to be rested on coffee tables, and couches need to be comfortable for curling up with a good book. While in Cape Cod this past weekend for Labor Day, we stopped into Midsumemr Nights Chatham. I could have moved right in without changing a thing and it got my mind stirring for beachy interior possibilities.

Fun/crazy paint detail

They have a great clothing/accessories section as well!

When in Doubt, Grey it Out

Grey is a wonderful color. Lambasted for being boring or cold, the right shade can really warm up a room. I recommend Benjamin Moore’s First Snowfall, Violet Sparkle, and Whirlpool.

One Last Grasp at Summer

I love these. Custom made beds  and daybeds by Cottage Home. Cutouts optional but why would you not get the cutouts? Would love one of these up at the lake…

Check Me Out

School starts up today. And while that usually signals the end of summer, I’m not giving up yet… labor day is still around the corner and it’s still too hot for me to wear jeans. I used this past weekend to relax, get organized, and sneak in a DIY project or two.

What a great set of stairs. Cream marble and gold stair rails

I would love to have a custom set of lucite letters made for my place

Proof that the little details are everything

Back to School.

It’s no secret that I would give anything to be back in college. Vanderbilt specifically. I had the most amazing four years in Nashville and I can’t imagine having spent it any other way. While I put in a little effort with my bedding every year, I definitely wish I could have another try at tackling the cement block walls and sad looking wood beds. Here are some back to school essentials to make your dorm room the one everyone’s talking about:

Extra long twin-set, please!

A bedskirt?! Why/how did I not think of that?

These pom pom pillows are adorable

For the more sophisticated college girl!

I just don’t know what it is. I am not a pink girl but my freshman year dorm room claimed otherwise:

Tying your curtains up with mismatched hair ribbons? I tried. Also, the desk chair. That desk chair.

Art in my dorm room consisted of poorly printed high school photos taped to the wall (see above)

Great conversation piece plates

Very cool

This floor lamp means business

West Elm has great shower curtains

Such a cute magnet board for notes, reminders and photos

A good desk chair changes everything

Just yes.

So… time to go back? Thank goodness for homecoming.
