Low Risk. High Reward.

TOO by Blu Dot

I’ve been a fan of Blu Dot for a while, especially these chairs, which my friend introduced me to. While Blu Dot is already well priced for the unique quality and artful form of its pieces, Target has a line, TOO by Blu Dot (find it here) that is even more affordable, so that good design can truly be possessed by all. This is something I am always in support of and love finding affordable options like these. So take a look around and maybe you’ll welcome a modern moment into your home!

When Furniture Meets the Walls

While at the Union Oyster House this past weekend, I noticed this nice and unexpected detail. The ceiling had exposed wood supports and because this vent couldn’t have the wood placed over it, it was painted with brown stripes to match exactly where the wood met the vent. It’s that extra step of matching one piece to another that brings a place together. I’ve noticed this trend a lot, especially with more traditional interiors and the use of toile. While I’ve never been much of a fan of this style, the image below of Aerin Lauder’s bedroom has me reconsidering the whole matchy matchy thing.

Top Home Picks

Because I’ve never really gotten the chance to design my own space yet, I often wonder what it would look like. I do know, however, that if I were to be designing my own home right now, I’d be sure to fill it with these treats. Here are my current Top Home Pick for November.

dwellstudio avedon nesting cocktail/end tables. a big trend right now and one that i am a big fan of are nesting tables that can rest within each other to save space, peep out a bit to create dimension, or separate completely to make more table room.

hot pink thonet chair. i love the pop of color these chairs would add to either  a dining table or a desk area.

I’d take a pair of these inexpensive Ikea One-seat Kivik section and leave them white or reupholster them to match the room

This Ikea Edland Four-Poster Bed Frame is affordable, and would go with any bedding or bedroom accessories I choose.

Antique Picks

You know you’re in the right profession when what you do at work is how you’d be spending your free time. 1st Dibs has been a great resource for our company and has opened us up to many new customers. It’s also been great eye candy and has me dreaming for the day when I can actually purchase an item I’ve found on 1st Dibs that I love.

Here are my 1st Dibs picks of the week: Boudoir ChairParisian Scene, HeadboardLouis Vuitton PaperweightAntler Table, A&F Elephant

Arezzo Antique Fair

Who knew photographing these antiques two years ago would lead to me now being able to study them, question their age, and wonder about their past.

All that amazing furniture. I told myself at the time, before I had any idea I’d be getting into the antique business, that I’d come back one day and bring a piece back to the US with me.

Such vibrant colors and textures for central Italy

I am still kicking myself for not bringing one of these home but they seemed so heavy at the time to be bringing home in my already overpacked suitcase.

I did, however, bring one of these home for my mother and that is something I will always be grateful for.
