Happy Friday! A few of my favorite pieces. A great way to break up wall-to-wall carpet common in rentals is to lay a cow hide over the carpet to accent the area around the sofa.

This new sisal rug from Crate & Barrel has completely transformed our living room, bringing in light and really making the room feel alive. Our previous rug, a dark red oriental rug was pretty, but it really weighed down the room. Next on my list is a new swing arm wall sconce and a new coffee table. Some ideas below….
Sconces: 1 . 2 . 3 . 4
Coffee Tables: 1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 . 6 . 7 . 8 . 9

Here’s where my blog name makes sense: I have never been one for tufted sofas. They always seemed a bit princessy and formal. Seeing this instagram photo by Song of Style made me completely change my mind. The straight lines and size of this sofa paired with the pale pink pillows and an oversized mirror look amazing together.
Let’s get the look:

I used to love playing dress up as a little girl. I’d even use my little brother as my minion and we’d run around in leotards and tutus while my sister played the piano. While I still occasionally find myself playing dress up, I more so find myself playing dress up with make believe rooms. Here’s a room I’d create if I had a blank slate.
This daybed is similar to the one used by Sixx Design (featured in this blog post) and I love the way they styled it.
Keeping with the Moroccan/well traveled vibe with this Trellis Chest
A mix of these hand painted pillows will add art to the bed
And this Pink Lemonade by Liza Matthews artwork would tie it all together
Chevron Throw to keep it contemporary and current
We’ve seen popular variations of this rug around, and West Elm‘s is reasonably priced
I want this IKEA light BAD and it would finish off the girly touches in this room
I’m at a stage in my life when I’m considering what furniture purchases are necessary and which can wait. I’m also at a stage in my life when I’m surrounded by beautiful pieces every day but I can’t always afford what I want. That’s why I was beyond thrilled by the introduction of Stylish Furniture and Decor. Think Bungalow 5 meets West Elm. Everything is cute, youth friendly, and budget friendly. From white bar carts to geometric bookcases, Stylish Furniture and Decor has it. Take a look around and as my readers, you can enter the code INSPIRE to get 10% off your purchase! Expires 5/31/12.
Growing up, I always wanted a four poster bed. I had friends with canopy beds that had curtains that closed at night and when inside, you felt like you were being whisked away on a magical ride. Having never had one, I feel it is my time. This Ikea bed frame is extremely popular in design yet due to its blank slate, it can be imbued into so many different settings and look unique and fresh. It doesn’t really fit with my current bedrooms look so maybe my next one…
